Experience & Education

Roman Holiday Salon,Pleasanton CA - Owner, Trainer & Hairdresser (1997-2012 )

Roman Holiday was where I found my passion to educate and mentor other stylists. I remember thinking the easiest part of owing my own salon would be finding quality stylists to fill my chairs. But I soon discovered that it would be my greatest challenge because clearly my standards were higher than most.

That challenge inspired me to start an apprentice program for my stylists. I taught strong artistic disciplines as well as how to deliver superior customer service. I also created a hierarchy of skill levels so the stylists could rank higher and earn more money within the company.

It was such an honor and privilege to watch many of my stylists evolve to become amazing stylists and owners of their own salons.

In 1999, my salon was nominated for Salon of the Year by Crew because of the success of the assistant program. Although we did not win, we placed third in the nation!

It was about that time that I was asked by a representative of Graham Webb if I would consider becoming an Educator for their company. It was the best decision I ever made!

I soon realized that sharing my knowledge and experience with other stylist all over the country was something I genuinely enjoyed. Giving stylists those “aha” moments is priceless.

Graham Webb, Traveling Educator  (1999 – 2003)

I taught in-salon classes educating stylists on Graham Webb’s haircutting  and styling techniques and artistic disciplines. I also worked hair shows for them prepping models behind stage as well as presenting on stage. What a thrill it was for me working with stylists all over the United States!

Sharing my knowledge with other stylists has been my favorite part of my career so far. I worked with Graham Webb until they became part of the Wella family.

Paul Mitchell School, San Francisco, CA - Academy Trainer (2000 – 2001)

I was asked by one of the founders in San Francisco if I would help them with their training until they got their program up and running. So, I spent my Saturdays at The Paul Mitchell School assisting students on the floor with their haircutting skills and client consultations.

Wella Studio, San Francisco, CA – Educator (2004 – 2013)

I traveled to salons and shared my knowledge of Wella Color to stylists. I educated stylists about the Wella Color lines and Wella Haircare lines. The classes ranged from basic color application and formulation to creative coloring techniques as well as corrective color. I did this until I decided to become an educator full time and became a Studio Trainer at the Wella Studio in San Francisco.

Wella Studio, San Francisco, CA -  Trainer (2009 – 2010)

What a blessing it was to spend a year training at the Wella Studio. I learned so much and was able to work with and alongside top artists in our industry. Unfortunately, the studio closed in 2010.

Aquage, Phoenix, AZ - In-Salon Educator (2014-2016)

When I worked with Aquage as an In-Salon Educator, I traveled to other salons and taught the stylists Aquage styling techniques including how to create those beautiful updos that Aquage is noted for.
